Malliotakis(de Blasio's GOP opponent) struggles to defend Trump over response to white supremacists

CITY HALL -- Assemblywoman Nicole Malliotakis struggled to answer questions about President Donald Trump's reaction to white supremacists and hate groups involved in deadly confrontations in Virginia over the weekend.

The Republican nominee against Mayor Bill de Blasio denounced the "disgusting" race-fueled violence herself and said Trump "should have called them out."

But Malliotakis became defensive when pressed about the president's response.

Asked if she regrets voting for Trump, Malliotakis said "no" and chuckled.
