So I awakened this morning at about 3 AM

which is about an hour before I usually arise on a workday, and the first thing I thought about was that for all the machinations of the RW, for all their screaming, spending, cursing, vilifying, exhorting, and screeching, not to mention the lying, stealing, and cheating, this guy was the best that they could do? They MUST have known that this was going to happen: that their candidate was seriously flawed in this manner, for this is the one thing that they understand - fiscal prudence. My God, none other than Rick Santorum begged his constituency to consider that Romney was the "worst" candidate who could possibly run. The stupid MSM took that to mean that the Romneycare would be hung around his neck like concrete, but it was really meant that in general, Romney was the only candidate at that time who was so seriously compromised that he couldn't even make it to the Convention. Gingrich echoed this as well: say what you want about these two miscreants, Rick and Newt, but they knew from whence they spoke on these issues, and they knew that Romney was low-hanging internally-rotten fruit with a shiny skin.

If this were a novel, written in the late fifties or early sixties, one would expect the solid, respectable, knight in shining armor a la young-version-of-Senator-Lugar, to rise to the occasion, but alas! there is no one who fits that description these days and given the nature of the process, it would be almost impossible to establish oneself this quickly and win enough electoral votes against a President whom many Independents feel is "not a bad guy" despite policy differences.

So the Rethug primary voters have painted themselves into a corner, even though billionaires like Adelson essentially TOLD them that this would happen, by heavily backing Gingrich in his case, against the flow of the "inevitable" nomination of Romney. Again, if this were a novel written now, I would be awaiting the Master Stroke...and I would submit that I wouldn't even want to hypothesize what that is at this point. I know what I would write, and it would not be a happy ending for the Nation. Let's hope that once again, the Rethuglicans have overplayed their hand and are simply ignorant enough to lose.

I think the big show really starts in 2016, when the Bush* family reenters the political fray. Jeb's comes to mind, however, George P. - son of Jeb - has basically been born and bred to perpetuate the Bush* political dynasty.

Jeb is being sanitized and readied for public consumption. Note the recent comments from Jeb breaking away from the crazy republican center. Jeb is being positioned as a centrist from the republican side.

Jeb Bush Questions G.O.P.’s Shift to the Right

"But tough talk about the state of the party on Monday by former Gov. Jeb Bush of Florida — who went so far as to say that Ronald Reagan and his father would have a “hard time” fitting in during this Tea Party era — exhibited a growing distance between the family, which until not very long ago embodied mainstream Republicanism, and the no-compromise conservative activists now driving the party."

...who was it that said the only qualification Romney would need as President was to have the ability to sign his name to the legislation passed by a 100% Republican legislature?...

In that one statement, I think they gave away the game...they don't think they can really defeat Obama but they can take control of the Senate and keep control of the House...if Romney wins, it's just gravy...and a freeway to Corporate Fascism.

democrats made a similar mistake in nominating Kerry in 2004. I voted for him in the general election, of course. Kerry didn't fire up the base in the primaries. Mainstream media pushed him as someone who might appeal more to non-liberals than Dean in the general election. I felt we should have ignored msm. No disrespect to strong Kerry supporters. I support his policies. And strongly supported his candidacy for President after he secured the nomination.

in this guy. I'm not sure how the money works but I would imagine they would like to get some of their money back. This guy has proven to be the loser we all knew he was. It makes me very happy..

they HAD to know what was going on here with this guy. If WE knew, they sure as Hell did...

Why would they throw a billion dollars away on this guy, when there are other more viable folk...well, maybe there aren't!

There's Big Changes afoot...likely not to be understood, save in hindsight.
I reckon it's still too soon for anyone named Bush.
Republican Party has done a Christopher Walken, in the Prophesy, where he turns into a flock of blackbirds.lol
They pretend to be unified, and monolithic...and in their messaging/Faux, they are...but the Message, itself is more and more bankrupt. They are Exhausted.
Coup de Grace is indicated.
