(4,533 posts)He has a free speech right to attend the rally. Firing him or expelling him would violate the first amendment. Should Trump be able to expel students at West Point who attended a rally for Hillary Clinton?
Feel free to boycott them but the University has no choice.

(115,656 posts)of conduct, that would be different; but just being there and expressing his opinion, however odious, can't get him expelled from a state university. Whatever social consequences he might encounter are a different matter.

(17,984 posts)well, there are ways. Universities run on a business model. If a university starts losing customers, the board of regents will pass along a note to the university president. Maybe I'm jaded by having spent so much time in colleges and universities, but they can be pretty sneaky sometimes.

(6,810 posts)They checked with legal counsel, law enforcement, and their own student code of conduct. They have no constitutional grounds to remove him. But as another poster pointed out, that problem will likely be solved by him being shunned by students and coworkers alike. He'll probably quit and withdraw from the university on his own.

(7,490 posts)I worked at a large public university for many years and more than anything else they are worried about covering their ass. Right and wrong go out the door until they are forced to do something. And some comparing this guy to a Clinton voter? Really?
