CHARLOTTESVILLE — Years before a 20-year-old Ohio man allegedly rammed his car into a panicked crowd of activists in Charlottesville, it was his disabled mother who was terrified.

James Alex Fields Jr. was barely a teenager in 2010 when his mother — who uses a wheelchair — locked herself in a bathroom, called 911 and said her son had struck her head and put his hands over her mouth when she told him to stop playing a video game, according to police records. On another occasion, records show, he brandished a 12-inch knife. Once, he spit in her face.

“Mom is scared he is going to become violent here,” a dispatcher wrote in a log of the November 2011 call in which Fields’s mother, Samantha Bloom, requested police help in getting her son to a hospital for assessment.

The portrait of a violent teen emerged asFields was denied bail Monday during his first court appearance in connection with the Charlottesville attack that killed one and injured 19 others when Fields’s Dodge Challenger plowed into a mass of counterprotesters at a white nationalist rally Saturday. He is charged with second-degree murder, hit and run and th

deranged. No different than ISIS recruits. Big assholes at the top uses the anger, testosterone and longing for belonging in recruits. Or their sadism. Whether they self radicalized or not. If they are self radicalized, the white supremacist propaganda got them. Why Trump's stopping the study and monitoring of such groups is a crime. What if the US government did nothing to stop direct recruiting or self radicalization of ISIS followers?

into a discussion of how to stop the recruitment. White supremacy is all over the internet these days. I hope the recruitment is studied and fought against.

James Holmes also exhibited tell tale signs and no one did anything. Why? Out of fear of labeling him? People died then and people died yesterday. I'm not talking about taking the preemptive measure of locking them up. I'm talking about taking the first step and having an open discussion about mental health awareness.

He is guilty of abetting by establishing a hostile environment that would trigger the maladjusted to do what Fields did...and all of the FOX News asshats that are STILL bending over backwards to forgive and give a pass to them for this.

Fields was clearly sick in the head...normal people do NOT do what he did, EVER...but that does not get to absolve the Nazis, KKK assholes and Confederate flag waving racists of their role in this, not now, not EVER!!!

How frightening and difficult, to be wheelchair bound with your young teen son threatening you with a knife.
But don't think it is easy to get help. It isn't. A lot of help is incompetent, profit seeking, or abusive.

Our society sucks at raising young men. IMO Parents who succeed at it do so in spite of, not because of, the culture and its resources.

And parents are the worst for this- refusing to admit the true nature of their child and as a result refusing to get them proper care and treatment- based on not "wanting them in the system" or not wanting them "labeled" or any of a myriad of bullshit excuses for not doing the right thing.

It's a take we have seen over and over so many times- and as someone who has had to respond and cleandela with cases that never make the news for every one of these we all see in the news there are hundreds of examples that never make the media radar.
