There Is Actually A Marked Place In Williamsburg Where Slaves Were Bought & Sold.

When I visited Williamsburg a number of years ago it was really a moving experience. Roaming the same area and being in the same buildings where Jefferson, Adams, Washington et al frequented was a profound experience.

The other side of the story was a place near and old tavern where slaves were actually bought and sold. And it was hard to believe that I was standing so near to a spot where so many black lives were altered and where so many rich colonists participated in the slave trade.

Then there were the stocks on the village square where human being were actually displayed for their misdeeds. If you could go back in time and actually see the people and live even a day you would be in awe and in shock all at the same time. What Jefferson, Washington, Franklin, Adams & company and the revolutionaries did was really almost impossible when you visit the area and think about that history.
