Let's make his Council so small they can meet in a bathroom.

(28,270 posts)Wow Trump and his damn party are as anti union as you can get!
WTF is the AFL-CIO thinking??

(56,828 posts)they figured it was better to have somebody on the council than have nobody and no voice

(28,270 posts)you could get no better seat for sure.
I still don't understand the AFL-CIO's reasoning though.

(24,259 posts)Considering they haven't even had a real meeting yet it sounds to me like the Grandstander-in-chief did it for political appearances more than honest to goodness input.

(18,969 posts)All Trump has ever wanted his entire life is to be taken seriously by real CEOs. This is absolutely the most painful thing he could have happen as it embarrasses him badly.
Trump will always be white trash. Would love to see the rest of the counsel leave, and would love to see him get hammered by them on the way out with statements like, "Trump is a petulant child who is wasting my time."

(63,221 posts)I hope this means that the tide is starting to turn against him. By now, anyone with half a brain should be able to see that being associated with this man in any way is going to leave a lasting mark on their reputation.

(128,441 posts)At least seven companies or executives said that they would remain with the council, which was formed in January to advise Trump on manufacturing growth -- a focus of the president's campaign.
General Electric (GE) said the company has "no tolerance for hate, bigotry or racism." But it added that chairman Jeff Immelt would stay on the council because it was important for GE to "participate in the discussion on how to drive growth and productivity in the U.S." Representatives for at least five other companies -- Dow Chemical (DOW), Whirlpool (WHR), Campbell Soup (CPB), International Paper (IP) and Nucor (NUE) -- voiced similar sentiments.
They all released statements that condemned racism or welcomed tolerance. But they also said they'd stay on the council so they could advise the government on ways to strengthen manufacturing.
One other member, Dell, said there was "no change" in how it is "engaging with the Trump administration" on policy issues that affect the company.

These folks need to understand that this "Council" is nothing more than a P.R. stunt. Wilbur Ross and Alex Acosta should be spearheading meetings with this group yet as I understand, they have yet to really meet. Boycott time!

(2,067 posts)I get and fully support going after Trump 100%, but there are a million ways to do that. I'm perplexed that the primary and most popular tactic is to enthusiastically try to eliminate a council whose entire purpose is to protect and create American jobs. How is that affecting Trump in the least?
I get the whole "you can't make an omelette without breaking some eggs," but if the eggs are fellow American workers?
I fully get trying to undermine a malicious and stolen presidency, but why at the expense of workers? He has a million policy positions that would be much more logical to object to than creating American jobs.
