My friends, things will get worse before they get better.

Have no doubt, they will get better. The road ahead is ugly and will require all of us sticking together. Even if we have great electoral gains it will get worse in the short-term. The alt-right have been emboldened and they will lash out worse than they currently are as we back them into a corner and call them out by name. As Trump goes down, either by way of stepping down, impeachment, or in the next election; the alt-rights rage will escalate.

As we move closer to elections we need to stand unified. That doesn't mean group hugs all the way around. Support and vote for your preferred primary candidate. Fight for them. Find reasons to support a candidate, not reasons to oppose a candidate. After the primaries, unify behind the winner and work for the Democrat in the general election. It Doesn't matter if they were your preferred candidate in the primary or not.

Make it a goal to drive a minimum of three people to the polls on election day. If you are already meeting or beating that goal, you are the shit. The rubber meets the road on election day. We have forces working against us that we must overcome.

Support your favorite group/organization. Send them money, give them your time, or both.

Join a local Democratic organization and help shape the direction.

Republicans are the enemy. Don't stop railing against them. Attach them all to Trump. Trump=Alt-Right=Republican. Drive the Russia story home. Out them as the racist, sexist, bigoted white nationalists they are. Do not relent on the attacks. Republicans are the enemy.

Politics is local. Get involved if you can. School Board. City Council. State House.

We don't need to sing in perfect harmony. That is not possible in a two party system. That doesn't mean we cannot and are not uniting. We have a common enemy. Trump and those who support him. Your rabid right wing city councilman. Members of your State House who can't cut enough taxes, school disbursements, or infrastructure work.

And never forget that "it will get worse before it gets better" has meaning. It means your family, friends, neighbors, and communities all across the country will suffer. It's real and these phrases need to be taken seriously. Look out for one and other. Look out for one and other. Look out for one and other.

This is our time. This is our fight. We are going to make a difference. We are going to provide the country with a federal government that is involved in some way in making sure every citizen has quality health care. Federal, state and local governments that fight for the civil rights of all. Infrastructure investments to fix what is crumbling around us. And on and on and on.

We've got this.

politically (sort of like Indivisible and other Dem groups). They just announced a conference in Detroit in Oct. to organize for the coming elections. This is more good news.

But things are going to change in a big way.

I'm trying to figure out how long it's going to take for Trump's party to run away from him. The longer it takes, the more it shows their lack of scruples and their commitment to party over country, as well as any sort of convictions at all. Trump is going to be an albatross around their necks, and we can only hope that he'll really be a millstone around their collective necks dragging them down.

All of those young folks who were energized by Hillary and Bernie need to get involved, as you said, in school boards, city councils, state runs, judiciary. Percolate up through the system to governorships, congress, senate. It's going to be a long, slow slog to recover from what's happening right now.

I try to remain optimistic. I try to remember that the long arc of history bends towards justice, but there's a lot of shit to crawl through between now and then. This is just barely getting started.

We're all going to need both things. We're going to need to work together. We're going to need allies of every stripe.
