Holy crap. He just kept on digging. And digging. And digging.

An MSNBC analyst called it an act of self immolation.

That riff on "will you want the statues of George Washington down next?" and the all sides are to blame garbage, the fake news, The you-don't-know-what-happened, the there-were-people-legitimately-protesting, the it's-about-jobs-not-racism...he just kept digging.

At this point, I would say "something catastrophic"...like maybe nuclear war with North Korea...and then he will entrench himself in the presidency and he won't be going anywhere.

The answer to your question is that what it will take for people to realize how dangerous he is:

It will take some form of danger that people will feel.

Someone on DU (I would give credit if I remembered who) posted actor Michael Ian Black's tweet:

Michael Ian Black ?Verified account
@michaelianblack

Metaphorically speaking, yesterday the President stood in the middle of 5th Ave and shot somebody. Her name was Heather Heyer.
6:43 AM - 13 Aug 2017

And that IS the shocking truth. Heather Heyer died, and Trump is talking about how he needs more facts, he's posting pictures of freight trains running into CNN reporters, he's making up stories about the "alt-left" running down the street viciously attacking alt-righters with "clubs"...

What will it take?

Something bigger and more deadly than what happened this weekend. That's what it will take.

Ordinarily, since the election, he reads statements and adds in comments off script. Today's debacle was PURE TRUMP unvarnished. He showed his true colors. If you want to know how he really thinks about all of this (if you can call it thinking), this was it on a gold plated brass platter.

He was THIS close to spitting and sputtering he was so riled up. And every golden moment caught for the ages and historical record. If anyone in the future wants to know why this fool was removed from office, just pull out this tape and show it. It's the smoking gun that he is not fit for the office.

Foaming at the mouth. Snapping at anyone and everyone. Lurching from position to position. Barking at the moon.

The dog days of August are Trump's undoing. He is done.

I am near 70 years old, and it is the damnest thing I have ever seen. He needs to be removed immediately, before he uses the nukes in another of his far too frequent (and increasingly bizarre) tantrums.

Then -- as he was talking about American jobs, using American products, working fast without those pesky permit regs, and so on -- the press kept on well, pressing him, about Saturday, and off he went defending his original speech on Charlottesville, defending Steve Bannon, conflating the violence of the alt-left and alt-right, not actually calling the driver in Charlottesville a terrorist but rather a murderer, and abusing the press ... Now I know why I've been assiduously avoiding these speeches all these months.
