We need an Amendment added to the Constitution.

1) get rid of the Electoral College

2)Allow the winner of the popular vote to become President of the United States

3) Some way the citizens of this country to recall elected officials and chance to vote out a failing politician BEFORE term ends.

A recall mechanism would mean a perpetual campaign. If you dint think it would have been used against almost every Democratic president in most of our lifetimes you haven't been paying attention.

But if a president could be voted out of office before the end of his/her term if they fell below 50% in the polls or even 40% Obama would have been forced from office as would have been Clinton and Carter.
