White Supremacist in Chief: Internet crushes Trumps latest defense of beautiful Confederate statuesBRAD REED

President Donald Trump on Thursday weighed back in on the debate over whether to remove statues and monuments erected in tribute to politicians and generals who served in the Confederacy during the American Civil War.
Sad to see the history and culture of our great country being ripped apart with the removal of our beautiful statues and monuments, the president wrote on Twitter. The beauty that is being taken out of our cities, towns and parks will be greatly missed and never able to be comparably replaced!
Many Twitter users were quick to hammer Trump for his praise of beautiful Confederate monuments, most of which were erected decades after the end of the Civil War, as a chart posted by CNNs Brian Ries shows.

(5,399 posts)N.B. Forrest statue every time I get on the interstate by my house. It infuriates me. Nothing to be done-- it's on private (racist) property.

(26,106 posts)I pass it sometimes on the way to Franklin. It is the ugliest damn thing and should not even be seen from the road, but somebody pulled strings and got the state to cut down the trees in front of it years ago!
It always gets the one-finger salute from me.

I wonder how wide the interstate easement is; maybe we could plant some leyland cyprus trees in the easement and have that monstrosity disappear in 3 years!
