Georgias Stone Mountain park has denied the Ku Klux Klans request to burn a cross at the top of the mountain, where the second KKK was founded in 1915.
Joey Hobbs, of the Sacred Knights Ku Klux Klan, submitted a permit application request for 20 people to attend a cross-burning on top of the mountain, which is notorious for being tied to the KKK.

...the mountain, where the second KKK was founded in 1915."
So there's a big ass Stone Mountain in Georgia where they have this quasi sacred bas-relief carving as an homage to Confederate Generals, and it was specifically chosen because it was the site of the rebirth of the KKK?
"On Thanksgiving evening in 1915, Simmons and sixteen other members of the new order, several of whom also belonged to the Knights of Mary Phagan, ascended Stone Mountain, ignited a flaming cross, and proclaimed the rebirth of the Knights of the Ku Klux Klan."

the same thing that happened to the great Buddhas in Afghanistan should happen to that malady... though I would rather that those Buddhas were not destroyed, Stone Mountain certainly should be.

(25,586 posts)4. I'm struck by how genuinely amateurish
that sculpture appears. The faces are cartoonish, the composition is somehow off, and the foremost horse looks goofy.
Total shitshow.
