My Dick Gregory Experience

Mr. Gregory spoke at my college in the middle 70s. As a young white man raised and schooled in the midwest his talk proved to be a very important and lasting part of my education. I recall him saying, talking about MLK, JFK, and RFK that the voices of hate will always attempt to silence the voices of equality and justice. That was true then, and true now.

RIP Mr. Gregory.

After getting past the shocking title, it was an eye-opening read of how life was for blacks way back then.

i met him, talked with him, worked with him on a prison project many years ago. In my memories, I have always considered him one of the most honest, honorable, truthful people I have ever known. Not a hypocritical or egotistical bone in his body.

May he rest in peace. Wish he was around to help our country get through its present situation.
