(2,897 posts)We're at the point where the vastness of the prize just inspires more people to play which will increase the jackpot.

(8,377 posts)I had the most fun mentally spending my money.
$1 million to each of my siblings/sister-in-law
$1 million to each of my nieces and nephews (12 in all!)
$1 million to each of my cousins
$1 million to my church
$1 million to area charities
$10 million to the school district specifically to raise teachers' pay
$1 million to my best friend
Etc.
I had a whole mental list.

(20,161 posts)Since I'm used to living on less than $30K, I could live like a queen on $100K a year. That leaves a lot of money to give away.

(14,308 posts)It would be kind of depressing to win.
I spent my whole life saving and I am now at the point where I can retire whenever I want to and spend more than I've ever spent. If I won the 433 million, it would make all my work saving money my whole life worthless pocket change.
I guess that's how it is for people who save their whole life and then have a heart attack the month after they retire. Kind of weird.

(17,427 posts)I was thinking it would be a big hassle to win, I would have to disappear since I can't claim it anonymously. My life would be forever changed. People would be coming out of the woodwork with their hands out.
But then I thought I could really do some good with the money.
A Democratic PAC in select red states was one thought. A trust to provide grants/incentives for builders to build affordable housing was another. Lots more things out there.

Happy for the woman who won.

What a relief!

(17,427 posts)On the local news folks buying tickets were asked what they would do with their winnings. They responded with the usual, travel, help my family etc. I said to my husband damn, I with they would have asked me, I would have said 'kick enough fucking republicans out in 2018 so we can impeach the white supremacist squatting in the White House'. 😬
