This is a year-old story about two dozen dogs purportedly euthanized by a military contractor in Kuwait.
Do not click if you have any fondness for dogs or if you retain any hope for humanity.
A bit of Googling brought me inconclusive results. Does anyone know the truth of this?

(32,076 posts)No but the reality is that these poor dogs make it very difficult pets. There's a shelter here in the Houston area that has four or five of them crated constantly and they're only two people that are allowed to even interact with them. They can't be adopted unless it's by somebody who really really knows how to handle these dogs . I believe there are a couple of German shepherds and at least one Malinois

(3,613 posts)You know how pit bulls are difficult to legally own for anyone in the middle class? You either need to be poor with no insurance or rich and self insured. Insurance companies hate pits. Because they have a reputation for biting people.
A police/military dog is trained to bite people. The exact opposite of what you train a pet to do. It is very difficult to rehome them. First they have to have their prior training undone, then retrained to not attack strangers ever. Even after training, they are a lawsuit waiting to happen. It is fair to say that it is comparable to raising a wolf as a pet. It can be done, but it is not simple or cheap.
These dogs may be close to the end of their lives, hard to rehome in the best of circumstances.
So they live out their lives in a situation where they will never have an opportunity to do harm. Sometimes living out their lives does not mean their natural lives.
End the use of dogs by the police/military now.
