If you didn't vote for Hillary Clinton you are responsible for the fascist psycho in the White House

While a category 4 hurricane is slamming the entire state of Texas practically, the psycho is on Twitter and pardoning a convicted racist. There can be no dount what the subhuman orange maggot is all about.

Fuck the asshats who were worried about benign emails from the most qualified human on the planet to run this county. Instead we are knee deep in fascism and 1/3 of the county are a okay with that. We are so completely screwed.

There are a lot of people that took a chance on Trump because they are sick of Washington. It was a bad choice and many now regret it but it is an understandable choice.

Washington has been screwing the little guy for decades now and for many Clinton represented a continuation of business as usual.

Sure Trump was an obvious nightmare to us but mostly folks don't pay attention the same way most of us here do.

And those people are called idiot racist fuckheads.

If they have now seen the light, well, that's super-duper. But they looked at the idiot racist fuckhead and said "that man is the best choice to lead the most powerful nation in the history of the world."

They are idiot racist fuckheads. That includes my aunt and my sister, in case you're wondering, so I'm not moved by people who cry "My mom voted for Trump. Are you calling my mom an idiot racist fuckhead?"

who didn't vote for Clinton in the general election.

However, your statement about it being an understandable choice is problematic for me.

I can not understand how someone could vote for an open misogynist, racist, and so many other things.

Mocking a disabled reporter, encouraging violence at his rallies, openly displaying his disdain for women, POC and too many others to list would be deal breakers for any decent person.

The fact that his voters embraced these things or worse, minimized them as unimportant tells me all I need to know about their basic lack of human decency.

Many people vote strategically - for the party or politician that they think will better serve their interests. They don't look at politicians as people - just as an end to a means.

I don't. I think many will continue to not vote Dem, because they feel their political advocacy is more purposeful when they can complain about the lack of progressive policy. Actual progressive policy victories would make it harder for such complaints to be made.

I could imagine some who see the error of their ways, and decide in the future not to use their political power to destroy the lives of their fellow citizens. It would be hard for me to imagine a large number of people in this bucket (as they knowingly and wilfully took an action with consequences that were easily predictable and predicted). But I could imagine at least some who recognize reality in the future.

However, that doesn't mean we have to approve of their past actions, or excuse them, or make it sound like such actions are better than votes for Trump himself. Do you really think there is a non negligible set of people who were going to return to the Democratic fold, but then decided not to because of some internet posts condemning their past actions (which under the hypothetical, they themselves agree were wrong)?

Those who are continuing, actually renewing and trying to escalate the divisiveness at DU are distracting from the work that needs to be done. DU has been my online home since 2004 and I intend to stay.

I had built a decent ignore list during the primaries and run-up to the GE and had cleared some, thinking this crap was over and we all were back to having a common goal or "enemy" once again. Looks like I'll have to revisit the list.

If you're engaged enough to be active on a democratic website you probably voted. and YEAH.. i know there "was one guy here that said he wasn't gonna vote cause he was a bernie-bro/green-party-sympathiser/clinton-hater..." heard it over and over.

My point is: Big picture, our time and energy would be better spent spreading this message to a larger percentage of non-voters.

It was gamed by the pros and while a total blow-out showstopper landslide would have made things more difficult, it's possible that she got one. She did in CA, where it took over a month to tote up all the early votes, provisional votes, same-day registration votes etc. Yet in red states they had it all figured out by 8:00 pm election day and that was that. The next day we were told Dems didn't turn out, and even though they did in record numbers, that's still the prevailing meme. So yes absolutely, voting counts, but it would count more if we had a decent electoral system.
