Now Romney is "Patriotic" for "retroactively leaving" Bain - LOL!

Romney camp defends 'patriotic' Bain exit

By Arthur MacMillan (AFP) – 1 hour ago

WASHINGTON — Mitt Romney's campaign sought Sunday to neutralize attacks on his business career by framing his decision to leave Bain Capital to save the Salt Lake City Olympics as a bold act of patriotism.

Senior aide Ed Gillespie branded allegations that the White House hopeful oversaw the shipping of American jobs abroad as "baseless" and accused Barack Obama of demeaning the office of the presidency through such attacks.

"He left a life he loved to go to Salt Lake City to save the Olympics for a country he loves more," Gillespie told CNN, hitting back at an increasingly strident attempt at character assassination by the Obama campaign.

the "save the Olympics" meme has to be countered. The Olympics would have taken place regardless.

There is a simple answer as to why Bain and Romney remain so steadfastly adamant that he had nothing to do with Bain during the runup to the 2002 SLC Winter Olympics.

That simple answer is that Romney and Bain appear to have used the Olympics as a vehicle for personal enrichment, and appear to have been very successful in their endeavor.

Privatization/profit is something Romney likes. Bain was good for Mitt -- but he got a little bloodlust with those games.

"... hitting back at an increasingly strident attempt at character assassination by the Obama campaign."

Bwaaaa Haaaaa, more proof the Obama campaign is doing an excellent job, writers like Arthur MacMillan have become even more strident and obvious in their vain attempt to rescue retroactive Mitt.

A multi-billion dollar Federal bail-out saved the Salt lake event; a world-class exercise in leeching off the Federal big-Government tit by our Mittens, but hardly a thing to boast of....

How many Bain-owned or invested companies got Olympic contracts? Our Mittens' Olympic position forbade any contracts going to businesses he had any interest in: one more reason for all this 'was he? wasn't he?' business with Bain --- clearing him to award contracts he would really profit from....

He refused to give free Olympics tickets to survivors of first responders killed at the World Trade Center, saying there would be no freebies, than turned around and gave away tickets to Utah state legislators: what a fella, eh?

We need to point that out whenever Mitt's "patriotic" Olympic service is thrown in our faces.

We were all bitterly disappointed in how it turned out. A bunch of the family planned to go down and watch some of the games. The cost and availability of tickets, the way they were packaged blew it for us. He ended up just going in on some with people in the office and divvying them up. He took his son to see a few skiing events.

In hindsight, I should have gone down there with one of my hockey fan buddies anyway. We found out we could have bought tickets outside any of the earlier round games and saw some great hockey. Then we wouldn't have felt so bad about putting out some big bucks to see one of the finals.

My brother felt that after all the local people had to go through for a couple of years to have those games, they got a pretty raw deal. All the traffic delays, security searches and other hassles had to be worth something.

I guess that's why when Romney was in charge of the Olympics in 2002, the ceremony uniforms were made in Burma. Yep, he loves this country sooooooo much.
