This seems like a terrible precedent to set, and would be guaranteed to be used by the GOP the next time we have a Democratic President.

If you have a President who isn't stable enough to be trusted with this authority, the answer is to remove that President from office, which is clearly the right move right here and now.

It may be coming to the fore because a lunatic has the button now, but that isn't the issue that is the basis of the law proposed.

I'd still rather deal with the issue by getting at the bigger problem, which is the expanded interpretation of existing declarations of war, as opposed to just limiting the use of certain weapons (albeit the most lethal ones possible).

That said, I do see your point and agree that it changes my view of this legislation.
