The resignations came Monday and were acknowledged by the White House on Tuesday. Nextgov has recently published the resignation letter that the departing councilors submitted. According to Roll Call, seven members resigned from the 27-member Council.
Several of those resigning were Obama-era appointees, including former U.S. Chief Data Scientist DJ Patil and former Office of Science and Technology Policy Chief of Staff Cristin Dorgelo. Not surprisingly, then, the issues outlined in the resignation letter were broad, faulting both Trumps decision to withdraw from the Paris climate accords and his inflammatory statements after the Charlottesville attacks, some of which came during what was intended to be an infrastructure-focused event.
The moral infrastructure of our Nation is the foundation on which our physical infrastructure is built, reads the letter in part. The Administrations actions undermine that foundation.

(1,822 posts)how many people are left in the government anymore? It seemed that Trump had hundreds of openings that were unfilled and there has been a lot of resignations over the past couple of weeks from people that arent in a high profile role, but would seem are still important.

The truth is that the man just doesn't give a damn. He ran for a few reasons, none of which involve doing the job: to spite Democrats, to spite Obama, to kill regulations he didn't like, to repay Putin, and to make business deals.

(101,147 posts)Sometimes it's been a career diplomat, sometimes a political appointee. The last one was political, and he therefore resigned Jan 20th. No nomination made since; while the White House said in June it was going to nominate Kenneth Juster (a political appointee, but he does have experience with India, so not an unreasonable appointment), nothing seems to have happened after that - the position is still marked 'vacant' in this well-informed list from the American Foreign Service Association:

(110,900 posts)and India is closer to war against China, anyway. Bet he doesn't know that, either. There's too much he doesn't know and no one can inform him. That is the problem.
He's just got to go.
