Most homes don't have flood insurance

So I'm guessing that rightwing homeowners who chose to not "pull on their bootstraps" and buy insurance will forgo any "welfare" from "the government"?
I mean that's how the "free market" works...correct?

In their specific case, they earned government assistance. The hypocrites they are.

Much help came from armies of volunteers from churches and private foundations. IIRC Oprah's foundation funded reconstruction from scratch a few homes, same for the Clinton and Gates Foundations. Currently in New Orleans there are a few neighborhoods that are nothing but foundations, no rebuilding what so ever. Some of the people in Texas affected by this hurricane are persons forced there by Katrina.

If u live where there has never been a flood do u buy flood insurance?
Probably not
Then along comes Harvey and ur house goes glug glug
Perhaps flood plain maps need to be redone more often but that would be hugely unpopular for those whose land value took it in the shorts by being told there always dry property was now considered risky

Rightwing philosophy dictates that government handouts are bad.
I suspect they will understand (NOT) that they chose to live there and that they will live with that choice. You know...the same standard they apply to everyone else.
