The Galveston Hurricane of 1900 was the deadliest hurricane in the history of the United States, killing at least 8,000 people. The 1928 Okeechobee Hurricane caused at least 2,500 casualties, and in 2005, Hurricane Katrina killed about 1,500 people. In the 1893 season, two hurricanes each caused over 1,000 deaths.
hyperbole helps no one.

(1,896 posts)But the older hurricanes were much more dangerous because of the lack of warning. Even the Labor Day Hurricane was something of a surprise to all those guys.

(12,640 posts)It's not hyperbole, it's just he can't imagine that far outside his personal existence. History doesn't exist, and the future doesn't exist. It's all "now-here" to him.
He thrives on chaos and personal vendettas. He'll forget about the damage to and suffering in Houston when the next crisis hits or when someone "disrespects" him.
