(45,481 posts)Democrat Karen Key-Gamarra will replace a retiring Republican. Her main opponent was a tea party republican being promoted by the RW home school crowd.
I feel this shows that there is little support for extremist Repubs and that the Ed Gillespie run for the governorship is probably in trouble. Virginia will remain in opposition to Trumpy and the GOP's misguided policies.

(82,849 posts)These little elections are where the Republicans built their strength in the 80s and 90s. We marvel at their seemingly never-ending supply of odious characters, and this is where they get their start. 64-33 is a frickin' blowout. Here's hoping Keys-Gamarra is a leading indicator.
