Maddow finishes first in cable news for second month in a row

BY JOE CONCHA - 08/30/17 02:00 PM EDT

MSNBC's Rachel Maddow continued her summer surge, finishing the month of August as the host of the most-watched program in cable news. Maddow also topped cable news ratings in July.

Maddow ended the month averaging a total of 2.783 million viewers at 9 p.m. ET, edging out Fox's Sean Hannity, who delivered 2.679 million viewers per night at 10 p.m., according to Nielsen Media Research.

Fox's Tucker Carlson took third place overall with 2.483 million viewers, followed by MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell with 2.531 million and Fox's "The Five" with 2.351 million.

Overall in total viewers, Fox has 13 programs in the top 20, followed by MSNBC with six shows and CNN with one, "Anderson Cooper 360."

Am I reading this wrong???

Fox's Tucker Carlson took third place overall with 2.483 million viewers, followed by MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell with 2.531 million and Fox's "The Five" with 2.351 million.

O'Donnell's 2.531 million viewers are more than Carlson's 2.483 million viewers.

Wonder if that is a typo, or are they doing it on purpose. Kind of like when a Republican gets in trouble and Fox news will put a D next to their name

Maddow narrowly beat Fox News Channel's Sean Hannity, who had 2.679 million total viewers. The remaining shows in the top five for the month were Fox News' Tucker Carlson (2.483 million), MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell (2.352 million) and Fox News' The Five (2.351 million). Maddow was also first among adults 25-54, the critical demographic to advertisers.
