Texas may need more than $125 billion U.S. aid for Harvey recovery

HOUSTON (Reuters) - Texas could need more than $125 billion from the U.S. government as it recovers from Tropical Storm Harvey, Governor Greg Abbott said on Wednesday.

In a press conference, the governor said Harvey’s scope exceeded that of Hurricane Katrina, which devastated New Orleans in 2005. The U.S. government allocated $125 billion in aid to Katrina relief, and Abbott said he thought Harvey relief should be more given its size.

If this had happened in a state with a Democratic governor, the Rethugs would be blaming everything on the Democrat and crowing loud and long about handouts and bootstraps. RW nutjobs are already blaming the storm itself as God's judgment for the previous mayor of Houston.

Did the right thing on evacuation, but he's a Democrat with dark skin so everything that went wrong is his fault. Even if it went wrong in Rockport.

...I hope that Paul Ryan will beat the brains out of the bill to make sure it's revenue neutral.
