to his constitutional duties as VP, which are almost nothing: acting as backup if the president is incapacitated or dies, and breaking ties in the Senate. Apart from those things, VPs really have no duties. So if Pence wants Trump to let him out in public so he can sneakily campaign for 2020 (and still look like the loyal foot-soldier), he has to fellate Trump whenever he makes public appearances. But the media will soon point out, if they haven't already, that Pence is much better at presidential disaster sympathy than Trump.
