It's only a matter of time before Repug candidates start distancing themselves from Romney...

Dems should look to pick up seats in many of the swing states, where candidates will not be allowed to run away from him. The Ohio delegation to the House of Representatives, currently 13 R and 5 D, looks particularly vulnerable...

I haven't researched it, but retaking the House ought to be very do-able! reformist2 Jul 2012 #3

Right now Willard is holed up in his New Hampshire estate rather than being out stumping for votes for a reason. The reception of Rmoney has been tepid at best by many downticket...especially the teabaggers. The primaries were bruising and there's a lot of hurt feelings out there that Mittens hasn't come close to healing. They don't like or trust him and many candidates are hearing this...thus they are keeping distant.

The problem will be as Willard sinks further into his own political abyss the focus and money will shift to the downticket races. Hopefully Democrats can and will energize and mobilize to counter the massive amounts of SuperPac money that will show up in virtually every House and Senate race across the country.

While it's pleasurable to watch Willard spin himself dizzy the hard work still remains and without retaking the House and holding the Senate we only get a push in November not a win...

Most House races won't heat up until after Labor Day and polling is very spotty right now. Most downticket races are polled by newspapers and TV stations that don't really start running numbers til September and that could be even later or less thanks to the downsizing of many papers. National polls do show people favoring Democrats to take the House over rushpublicans but those are beauty pagent numbers as most races boil down to local issues and personalities.

Also...it's hard to tell how much or bad rushpublican redistricting in some states and new voter suppression and caging laws in others will supress turnout that could help their candidates squeeze by. I'm hopeful that Democrats can make gains but I don't see President Obama having long coat tails. We need to win 26 seats to retake the House...I still see it to be a very tall order.

Palin wasn't vetted. Romney wasn't vetted. The TeaBaggers are the cattle grazing on the GOP's front lawn. Rome is falling before our eyes!
