It seems to me that where the Democratic Party needs to focus its efforts nationally is obvious

and this should work even in states where new laws have made it virtually impossible to assist people in registering to vote.

What the Democrats need to be focusing on is getting people good photo ID that will be accepted at the polling place.

I'm not too worried about getting out the vote, I'm more worried about being able to get the people who come to vote into the voting booth to cast their ballot.

I proposed this is another thread and got pummeled for it.

This is issue that we will never win in the court of public opinion.
I say we think it as Step 1 in the GOTV effort.

Find out who the folks are that lack a photo ID and put together a localized plan to get them one.

Seems to me like the kind of specific task (with immediate results) that would be easy to get volunteers and donations for.

with how organized they are. And we are making sure people are registering to vote, and if not, providing assistance if they need to get their ID and whatnot. I had great fun on Saturday.
