Charlie Sheen donating $1 million to USO

The Wrap -- Forget winning; Charlie Sheen is all about giving at the moment.

The "Anger Management" star announced Monday that he will donate $1 million to the United Service Organizations (USO), which will go toward an entertainment facility for injured troops in Bethesda, Md. The donation will mark the largest single contribution from an individual in the organization's history.

"It's an honor for me to be able to give back to these men and women of the military who have done so much for all of us,” Sheen said of the donation. “They put their lives on the line for us every day, and I'm just happy that my work on 'Anger Management' can bring a little bit of relief to the troops and their families."

The actor has pledged to donate 1 percent of the profits from his FX comedy "Anger Management" to the USO, with a guaranteed $1 million minimum. The first installment of $250,000 will be donated in a private ceremony next week.

8. At the peak of his Two and a Half Men career, Charlie Sheen was making $1.25 million per episode.

That amount grows to $2 million when you include back end syndication points. A season is typically 24 episodes, so Sheen’s salary was roughly $48 million per year from the show.

Sheen was the highest paid actor on a primetime series in the history of television.

The CBS hit was the highest rated sitcom on television for three years straight. They shot 7 seasons...

9. Alcoholism is a disease. It's too bad that it is still okay to mock people who suffer from this

disease though. Research continues to try to find the causes for addiction and one day we will have the answers. Just as has happened with many other diseases where it was once okay to slam people who suffered from them.

Not enough money has been allocated to a disease that affects one in six Americans. But in Germany eg, much research has been done and continues to be done thankfully.

Regardless, what he is doing is a very good thing. Maybe as someone who suffers with his own demons he finds it easier to relate to others who are suffering. Good for him. If only everyone contributed something as positive as this to society, what a better world it would be.

I have a friend with a 25-year coin.

So, I'll amend my post to say, "Thanks, Charlie, but you're still a douchebag."

11. Douchebags don't donate a million dollars to people less fortunate than they are.

Douchebag in my book, would be someone like Rush Limbaugh who as far as I know, while I sympathize with his addiction problems, still has the basic personality of a true douchebag which means he will never extend himself for the troops he hypocritically uses when it suits his purpose.

Sheen otoh, demonstrates that his basic personality, absent the disease he suffers from, is pretty decent overall.
