Cops start harassment-campaign against pizzeria-owner insufficiently supportive of them.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/chris-sommers-pi-pizzeria-st-louis-police_us_59c2a4cde4b087fdf509c322?section=us_politics

“You generally want to be friendly with the police,” Sommers told HuffPost in an interview around lunchtime on Wednesday. “And then they shoot at you.”

Sommers isn’t the kind of guy you’d expect to get into a conflict with the police. He has St. Louis Mayor Lyda Krewson’s cell number. He gives police a 50 percent discount. He has donated to law enforcement groups. He considered himself a police supporter, even though, he said, St. Louis cops never seemed to solve any of the crimes occasionally committed against his restaurants.

...

On Twitter, he’d used the term “dimwits” to describe officers who chanted “Whose streets? Our streets” on Sunday night after they arrested people downtown, in a sweep that led to peaceful demonstrators and a couple of journalists spending up to 24 hours in jail.

Blue Lives Matter, a right-leaning retort to the Black Lives Matter movement that has grown on Facebook and morphed into a pro-police news site, didn’t like what Sommers had said. Someone wrote up a critical post on Tuesday. The St. Louis County Police Association posted that story on Facebook, along with phone numbers for Pi Pizzeria’s various locations, and urged supporters to call the restaurant if their “freedom of speech needs a little exercise.” (The police association appears to have since deleted the Facebook post.)

...

The restaurant owner isn’t done. He expects to testify in federal court in connection with legal action bought by the American Civil Liberties Union over the cops’ behavior.

“Did I run my mouth? Yes, certainly, after I got assaulted. Do I regret some things? I regret the impact on my employees and my wife. But I know what I said is true, and there are a lot of dimwitted people in the police department, because this stuff is happening everywhere,” Sommers said. “It’s not a few bad eggs. It’s happening everywhere, and what we need is more good eggs who stand up, for police officers to come out and acknowledge what’s going on.”

Please explain to me again why it's okay for a fucking police-union to use mob-tactics.

3. Why don't the police just "boycott" his business and allow a rush of other who probably dislike

them anyway to make up the difference. The owner would probably increase his profits if he stopped giving them 50% discount. Ungrateful pigs.

Their careers are over and their families and themselves are targets.

We need a state by state special prosecutors office that just prosecutes the cops. Asking the local D.A.'s office to do it when they work with their local police department daily is a recipe for disaster. Just look at Ferguson.

Once they start getting prosecuted and convicted their attitude will change!

I've given this some thought: in an authoritarian structure, one of the worst things you can do is show you're not part of the team. Usually HUGE consequences - both mental and physical - for the "betrayal" of your "family". And not just you as you said: your family, friends, etc all reap the consequences.

Truly reminds one of the way the "mod" is structured and loyalty is enforced.

That, by far, is my most favorite conspiracy theory. I love to bring it up whenever I talk to republicans

Sometimes I wonder if they realize who pays them. The paychecks don't come out of the sky on a flaming, hate-filled pie.

from contractors to restaurant owners and suppliers for his hotels. It got so bad in DC that our mayor called Ivanka to ask her to get him to back off.

He liked it so much when he was campaigning in St. Louis that they opened up one in DC. It's delicious. They have the Chicago style deep dish. And people of all races and backgrounds like it, including cops.

The Obamas have excellent taste. It's a shame how far we have fallen with the current occupants of the white house.

I've read of them asking their friends, family, and supporters to not o to a certain place, cutting profits --
or parking a cop car with lights flashing in front of a restaurant (as if some police action were taking place) to scare customers away.
