Top Romney surrogate calls Obama a socialist stoner who needs to 'learn how to be an American'

Top Romney surrogate calls Obama a socialist stoner who needs to 'learn how to be an American'

by Jed Lewison

How desperate is Romneyland to not talk about Bain? So desperate that they trotted out former George H. W. Bush chief of staff John Sununu to attack the president as a pothead foreigner who doesn't have a clue about creating jobs and needs to "learn how to be an American."

According to Sununu, Obama "spent his early years in Hawaii smoking something" before moving to Indonesia before finally "he came to the U.S." to be "a community organizer, which is a socialized structure." And to make it even worse: he did it in a Chicago, home of the thugs.

Watch it here:

SUNUNU: This guy doesn’t understand how to create jobs. So there is no surprise — there should be because of that statement no surprise on why he failed so miserably over the last four years, in terms of job creation. He has no idea how the American system functions, and we shouldn’t be surprised about that, because he spent his early years in Hawaii smoking something, spent the next set of years in Indonesia, another set of years in Indonesia, and, frankly, when he came to the U.S. he worked as a community organizer, which is a socialized structure, and then got into politics in Chicago.

<...>

...Classic nopology from Sununu:

Sununu clarifies: "The president has to learn the American formula for creating business...if I didn't give all that detail, I apologize."

— @mpoindc via Seesmic twhirl

Even if he actually meant that, which I doubt, it still doesn't explain why he thinks Hawaii isn't part of the United States.

What the hell is that smell?

Ah, desperation.

He is the embodiment of everything there is to dislike about the Republican party and an embarrassment to NH.

He's never gotten over the fact that David Souter turned out to be a pretty liberal SCJ and that he was asked to resign as chief of staff for GHWB.

A pugnacious, arrogant and ugly man. Inside and out.

Wow.. guess they're going with the Palin playbook of 2008, paint your opponent as unamerican, and rile up the unstable ranks in your party. You know that when you hear Rush saying the same thing yesterday, and now Sununu, that it's a faxed talking point, attack.

Fuck these people. I mean.. seriously fuck these people.

Just like with McCain/Palin, they got nothing, so they stoop to the most disgusting attacks of all. I would laugh at them, but this is the type of rhetoric that brings out the truly deranged.

PS- HE FUCKING CREATED JOBS!!! Unlike his predecessor, and unlike the do-nothings Republicans in DC who refuse to pass his Jobs bills. I hate that lie being told over and over like that, unchallenged. I also hate the 1%er "journalists" that allow this shit unchallenged.

This is the whole tone of Romney's "critique" of Obama; he's out of his depth, doesn't have a clue, etc. Only makes it more enjoyable to watch his campaign exploit daily all the openings created by Romney's ineptitude.

who was gov of NH for 6yrs, then chief of staff for GHWB- who was asked to resign.

The only positive thing he did was to push for David Souter as SCJ. He didn't realize the kind of justice Souter would become.

He is also still pissed that his son lost re-election to Sen. Jeanne Shaheen which was an upset-

there aren't many people I have such a visceral dislike for, but John Sununu is one of them.

I did wonder if you knew who he was, because it reminded me of the "Who the Hell is William Loeb" from years back.

I also tend to be pretty slow to pick up on sarcasm.

...Obama has hit them hard, and made romney whine like a little girl. The republicans have been demanding apologies, and getting laughed at. That makes them look weak and ineffective. So they're sending people out to talk trash, waiting for the Obama campaign to start demanding apologies, that they can then ignore.

I don't think the President is going to give them that satisfaction.

It'll be interesting to see how low the republicans will sink in their search for that one slur that will have the Dems howling for an apology.

What the fuck kind of name is 'Sununu' anyway? Isn't he from some terrorist Ay-rab country?

I hope I don't get alerted on for this, as I'm merely responding in McCarthyite fashion to the slander that douche Sununu is propounding.

There are so many tempting targets this year, but I really wish the Obama campaign would fashion an ad exposing this neo-McCarthyism and shaming it a la a "Joseph Welch moment.'

Still, thanks for posting this. I'm K&R-ing for additional exposure.
