Westboro Baptist Church will protest Sage Stallone's funeral

http://www.wwtdd.com/2012/07/westboro-baptist-church-will-protest-sage-stallones-funeral/

They’ve already tweeted all this:

- “So Westboro will picket Sage Stallone’s funeral so Syl’s other children will finally see some truth.”
- “Tell @TheSlyStallone to mourn for his sins, not pimp out son’s dead body to more proud sin!”
- “Whoring dad @TheSlyStallone selfishly drove him to mock God & to his death.”
- “Adulterous dad brought wrath of God on son.”
- “Thrice-married rebel taught his son to mock God.”

...i.e. father, grandfather, or father-in-law to virtually every one of them. WBC isn't a "church" in the normal sense; it's a family-based cult.

I would volunteer to be part of a living wall to keeps these demons (using their own sources of info, they just HAVE to be demons, or something else that oozes evil) as far away as possible. I hope Stallone or his friends had plans for something similar. I love to see these creeps blocked, or not show because they got the word it was gong to be very uncomfortable if they did.

Is there a point at which this "church" can be shut down for the hate-filled sewage it spews at innocent, grieving people?

Damn.

ETA: rhetorical question I guess. But again: DAMN.

I watched a documentary about them recently and I heard no mention of that. But Grandpa Phelps seems to be living in a hallucinatory nightmare and has absolute power over his family. Which ones are lawyers?

ETA: I see that you're right. Okay then. Interesting.

Fred was the first to become a lawyer but he was disbarred 10 or 15 years ago. Since then several of his kids have followed in his footsteps but most of them have also been disbarred. Last I heard there was only one lawyer left in the family and there were 5 or 6 at one time.

...the first church I went to was a Baptist church. I am not going to make a blanket statement about Baptist churches based on my attending ONE of them, but it was a TOUGH ride. The folks were mostly older, absolutely homophobic, racist to a degree, and rigid...really, really rigid. The Youth Pastor and his wife were around my age, so they became my closest friends out of the bunch. The church said "NO" to EVERYTHING except the status quo, so over time, this guy got REALLY frustrated because EVERY one of his ideas was shot down. He made the decision to leave and go back to the seminary. He struggled with a part-time job to pay the bills and a full load of classes. Last I heard he gave up on it all and just got a "regular" job. I grew weary of teh church's attitude after a very short period of time and left for a new church...and not a Baptist church.
