Homeless woman commits crime on purpose to get off street

HANNIBAL, Mo. (AP) -
A 25-year-old homeless woman says she damaged a northeast Missouri police car and got caught on purpose - so she would go to jail and have a place to spend the night.

The Quincy Herald-Whig reports that Victoria Norell of Hannibal was arrested Saturday night and taken to the Marion County Jail after she allegedly shattered the rear window and damaged the trunk lid of a Hannibal police car.

Police say she walked into the police station and confessed, saying she wanted to go to jail to get off the streets. Security cameras at the police station also indicated she was responsible for the damage.

If they get to a certain number, they remove the post. And since the liberal commenters are so outnumbered at The Star, they get more posts removed.

Homeless people have been doing this for thirty years and longer. Back then, I knew several homeless who deliberately committed a crime to get off the street because it was exceedingly hot, cold, they needed to get some health issues taken care of, or they were simply tired of starving in the street.
