They're just chastening him to do with him as they wish.

I think that things are still not good enough that they can rob it yet. I thought they wanted Obama to win last time because of George's mess. No volunteersto walk into that one. This way, they get to blame the democrats for the bad times, until they recover enough they can come in and steal again.

That said, this is all about laying pipe for the 2016 election. The pattern holds that the Republicans should win that race based on "Obama fatigue." Odds are with them. I'd put good money on Huckabee being the man then. This is why we need to get corporate money out of politics now.

He is doing most of it but he won't just take a beating on his tax havens and get passed this.

I really think that the conflict is Mitt Romney doesn't want to have to defend his tax returns even for 2 days or however short they could keep it. Murdock and others are telling the Romney campaign in effect 'look just trust us, you put out your taxes and we will spin it away'. But Mitt won't do it.

So now there is I think a bigger trust thing going on MAYBE between the GOP leadership and Romney. He also wouldn't call ACA a tax when they told him to. Romney has taken orders from anyone for a long time perhaps but this is also about him trusting allies -- or perhaps not trusting them. And now they have reason not to trust him.

But Romney is their guy in the 2012 race. This just like a struggle in the paddock to get the saddle on him.
