414-2 vote on spending "sequester" bill -- House panicking defense spending might actually be cut

They're terrified the lucre flowing to their sugar daddies might be cut a little, and want to "force" Obama into backing away from such unthinkable actions:

House passes bill demanding sequester details from Obama
By Pete Kasperowicz

The House approved legislation on Wednesday that would give the Obama administration 30 days to provide details on how it will deal with a required $109 billion cut to 2013 spending, which the administration must impose under last year's debt-ceiling agreement.

The bill enjoyed broad support from both parties and passed easily in a 414-2 vote. The two "no" votes came from Democratic Reps. Eliot Engel (N.Y.) and Maurice Hinchey (N.Y.). Under the sequester, the Office of Management and Budget must by Jan. 2 cut $109 billion from 2013 mandatory and discretionary spending accounts unless Congress provides a different plan.

Republicans have complained that the Obama administration has yet to indicate how it would make these cuts, which were required after the so-called "supercommittee" failed to reach an agreement on deficit reduction.

<snip>

But the bill also would put pressure on the Obama administration and Democrats to redesign the sequester to spare the Defense Department from cuts. The author of the bill, House GOP Conference Chairman Jeb Hensarling (Texas), has indicated that he sees the bill this way, lamenting that Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) has said he would implement current law.

What's with lazy asses punting it back to the Executive Branch?

And from the article -

"Sen. Reid has said, 'I'm not going to back off sequestration,

So yet another "bill" that is DOA in the Senate and the Congressional Record becomes littered with more rethug waste while the media makes a big fuss over nothing.

Not to mention the hilarious bit about "Home of the brave".

“The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed (and hence clamorous to be led to safety) by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.” H.L. Mencken

Remember when Eric Cantor came out smiling and nodding, triumphantly declaring that Obama had caved? Well, here's the deal you agreed to, Monsieurs Cantor and Boehner.

How ya like it now?

Defense should not be spared. It was part of the original deal. Don't like it? Deal on tax cuts, you fuckstick motherfuckers. That thing you feel is your own petard that you're being hoisted upon. It's also called leverage on the tax cut deal. So, shall we say tax cuts for the middle class, none over $250,000, and then you can keep your defense spending?

OK, then,we're settled.

It is so surreal.
