One winger reposted my link with this:

"Solar plant is the third to go under since receiving 100's of millions in cash and tax breaks. Social engineering is a failure! But obama and the democrats want to spend even more. We need to STOP this insanity."

To which I simply replied (because I actually read the article):

You do know that the federal money for that plant was paid out in 2007?
"Amonix was selected for a grant under the Bush Administration's Department of Energy in 2007, and eventually received a total of $15.6 million under the grant, she said.

Crickets.....(even more in the article I could have quoted, but it was fun enough as it was). One could get into the whole China thing (they are subsidizing the industry there which is making it grow - i.e., creating jobs) or the bipartisan support mentioned and so on. Whichever method you choose, it is fun to watch them say nothing.

2. China is issuing massive subsidies to Chinese solar firms. They intend to monopolize the market.

The amount of money that the United States spent on Amonix is paltry in comparison. It might help explain why China is simply destroyiing anybody that tries to compete. They can't. The competitor would need just as many subsidies to keep up a fight.
