In an odd digression, White House chief of staff John Kelly, a retired Marine general, strayed Thursday afternoon from the topic at hand — how best to address the grief of Gold Star families — into broader social commentary.

“When I was a kid growing up, a lot of things were sacred in our country,” he said. “Women were sacred, looked upon with great honor. That’s obviously not the case anymore.”

Set aside the oddness that the man Kelly serves and had summoned reporters to defend, Donald Trump, has been accused of predatory sexual behavior and was heard on the “Access Hollywood” tape bragging about how he grabs women by the genitals and attempts to seduce married women.

Ponder instead the claim — the misty memory — that women were considered sacred and looked upon with great honor in the 1950s when Kelly, 67, “was a kid growing up.”

2. Women in the 1950s

I am the same age as General Kelly, and grew up in the 1950s like he did. We girls weren't allowed to wear pants to school: skirts and dresses only. Here's how I remember women (my mother's age) in the 1950s (though my mother did not buy into it much):

4. Post WWII after Rosie the Riveter was forced back in the kitchens

and becoming brood mares they have been treated like shit since. Even before when the Catholic Church took away the veneration of Mary and the Mary it became clear that women were nothing but servants and sub-missives for men.

If Kelly were so concerned about the sacred-ness of women why didn't he do a damn thing about the rape of women in at least the Marines and the rest of the Armed Forces. Once again his bullshit so glaring it is blinding.
