I have always loved the NASA articles and beautiful photographs, but I have noticed that lately whenever there is an interesting little article about space exploration (nothing really wild or outlandish) there is a HUGE barrage of attacks in the comment section that everything is fake and it is some kind of conspiracy from Nasa trying to brainwash us. What the heck??? Especially regarding the recent article that says " explore the edge and our ICON mission".

(44,988 posts)It's a cesspool. All of it. Know one knows a bot from a real person.
There is no trust. There is no point. Anymore. RIP Social Media.

(5,914 posts)Yeah, I know it's made it easier to share pictures of your yard apes' swimming lessons with everyone you went to junior high school with. Like they really give a shit about that, or about the cheeseburger you just ate.
Back in my day, we had these things called phone calls and letters. Sure, they were more work to produce, but the content was of much, MUCH higher quality because of that. Actual human interaction--what a concept!

Might as well believe that a dragon eats the moon every month too.

I think it probably is some kind of bot factory thing to suck in a few rubes and waste everybody else's time.

(3,208 posts)I have been following them for a long time. They do post amazing photos! I don't think I ever really read the comment section, it's good to avoid that as a general rule (especially on YouTube!). I think there are just a bunch of ignorant Americans. I hate to say that but lets face it, if this current administration has shown us anything, there are a lot of willfully stupid people in the world. And it's really sad because it has never been easier to learn things. They are obtuse and maybe do not want to learn so they try to trash anyone who wants to spread information or education. Isn't their leaders motto "fake news"?
