And I'm not preaching. I'm discussing visible Trends. Quite obviously, there is a rising trend toward freedom and democracy and a people uniting, world-wide. It is unmistakable. It's not going away. And Nadin is of course correct, in that power doesn't just walk away. It will salt the earth, it will poison the well, rather than just go. Look at the obvious trend of cops becoming more conniving and ludicrous and secretive as they desperately seek to make #Occupy go away. Look at our unlucky brothers and sisters in Egypt. So, we have two directions: a rising need for freedom and joy, and the old direction of "Do what we say or else". In Tunisia, bless them, they got free without great expense. Others are not as lucky. I'm interested in what is happening in America. I am all for Freedom and all against the old direction.

"News" will reflect these things. "A pound of protection beats an ounce of lead", said SFOTW. Knowing the trends allows for strategy. You can then -make- the news.

I am very interested in both the micro and the macro, and especially the evolution of this emergent system. I won't apologize for what I am and for that which interests me, for that which I know must be, such as Freedom. And for the manner in which it must be discussed. The Ignore button is right there, please put me on ignore. Have a good new year!

Circumstances can change very quickly, for the rich and poor alike. We all need a helping hand now and then.

For example, without the taxpayer bailouts, many of the 1%ers would be in the streets fending for themselves just like the rest of us.

It's time for them to pay back the favor and pay their fair share into the system that keeps them afloat.

If they were ordered to do that, which I highly doubt they'll ever admit to, then the person doing the order should be fired at the minimum. Instead they are hiding behind cronyism. They'll feign ignorance, get paid leave, some might get a settlement, others might be threatened with far worse if they don't comply with the "bargain" given by the courts, and so on.

The entire idea of blocking a fucking sidewalk, telling protesters that they're violating an ordinance that blocks sidewalks, and then arresting them en mass is completely corrupt. If I was a police officer and I was ordered to do that, then I would be a whistle blower from hell. If I wasn't ordered to do it but it was some idea that my fellow officers came up with, likewise, I would blow the whistle on them and get them fired.

Don't start this revisionism with me, I followed it all night, thanks.

The police allowed them back in, it wasn't some sort of "trashing of the barricades." The barricades were piled up after the police left to follow the democratic marches through the city.

By the way, not that you know this, since you have zero interest in this... OWS is not just going to parks or marching... like the folks in WISCONSIN DID... do you want me to post photos? They are also involved now in the POLITICAL PROCESS.

Granted, if you read elite media, or worst FOX, they are shiftless, dirty and have nothing of a plan, which is 180 from it.

For example, MY LOCAL OWS is now deeply involved in the INITIATIVE PROCESS. WAIT... that is not political according to you, so is voter registration.

What I find amazing is that you keep having these arguments with people who actually have a clue.

And you really need one.

That sometimes the city piles barricades up and so OWS in the park was simply doing the same by taking down the barricades?

Guess they should be reimbursed by the city, then.

OWS can do all the political work they want. I ENCOURAGE them to do so. But waiting until the police had their backs turned and then trying to 'retake' the park was another dumb stunt.

You're quibbling over the word 'trashed'.

So OWS 'rearranged' official police equipment while trying to 'retake' the park.

Damned right I don't understand why anyone thought anything would come of this except more arrests while pulling cops away from their job of keeping the city safe during a massive New Year's celebration.

And, as it turned out, nothing was changed by this.

Meanwhile, over in Wisconsin...

Sun Jan 1, 2012, 03:30 PM
Jan 2012

I haven't heard anyone use it recently except OWS supporters.

What happened -and continues to happen- in Wisconsin is people are taking their demands for redress directly to the people responsible.

OWS takes their demands to park sit-ins and then complain that the authorities want to clear the parks. When OWS takes direct action is when I applaud them.

See the difference?

Sun Jan 1, 2012, 03:45 PM

The media was on it for a month or so, HARD. They even tried red baiting for two weeks.

And you keep missing this... OWSers are taking their demands DIRECTLY TO THOSE RESPONSIBLE. Or you think GOING TO CITY COUNCIL is for shits and giggles? Taking it to Congressional Representatives is just for fun?

There is more, which you do not get... WISCONSIN is part of the same movement... just as the Indignados in Spain, the kids in Tel Aviv, and the occupation in Tahrir square.

And the AUTHORITIES IN MADISON TRIED to clear the capitol, REPEATEDLY... or have you forgotten that? I am proof positive that you would have taken the side of the governor when he ordered the Capitol Closed a few times. I mean you ALWAYS, predictably, take the side of those in power. It is a pattern that many of us have noticed.

Here, more from Wisconsin camping

Why keep bringing it up when no one else is using it?

Zuccotti Park is in the financial district. Taking a protest directly to those responsible in Wisconsin is the best way to confront injustice.

Trying to convince Wallstreeters to change their ways because it's the 'right' thing to do? That hasn't worked out so well, has it?

I am taking the side of power, am I? By pointing out what is self-evident to everyone else this morning -that trying to 're-invade' Zuccotti Park during the New Year's celebration was a waste of everyone's time.

And it wasn't an invasion. You will take the side of the powerful every time and you do not understand CIVIL DISOBEDIENCE.

You know the kids who sat at a lunch counter. you would have laughed about them too.

You will keep shitting on every one of these threads, because that's what you do. Until OWS does what you aprove off, which they will never be pure enough or good enough for you. That is the truth. SOME wear things that identify them, but MOST wore pretty regular clothes son... like you know coats, jeans and boots, like everybody else.

I watched the march... I guess the guy wearing the blue collared shirt, and slacks, had a tattoo somewhere.

Or the gal wearing a long coat, and jeans and boots... yup...

Either belonged at a new year's party or the office by the way, so be careful when you go downtown ok. You might be picked up on suspicion of OWS activity.

As to the American flag, they tried, they were prevented by Security and later the cops... since you know the pole can be used as a weapon. Given San Diego PD started that, it is a new tactic to make sure these dirty hippies remain outside the society. Realize a tactic one city tries, quickly spreads around.
