I live in Maryland, and I can't stand Gillespie. The commercials they are running now are just downright nasty, especially Gillespie's.

(182,585 posts)6. Some local knowledge- Northam brings two interesting elements to this race
1. He's from the Eastorn Shore. As far as I know we've never had a Gov. from the Eastern Shore. It's typically pretty Republican but as the local boy made good he could bleed some much needed votes there.
2. He's a VMI alum. Very very conservative group but they are also incredibly loyal to one another. Once you are in the VMI network you will never want for a job or opportunities for new positions. Which way and to what extent will they go?
