I have a lot of respect for Mueller and his team. I generally think they are smarter than the foes they are trying to vanquish and will prevail in the end.

that sprang up out of nowhere to be quoted everywhere in amazingly short time start hitting its agenda? Could Axios' unsubtly biased description of the dossier issue be an attempt at a subtle punch?

The big picture: The dossier is reportedly playing a role in Robert Mueller's Russia investigation, but opinions on how credible and explosive it is vary widely. Trump and his supporters say it's a "fake" and the real scandal is Democratic involvement in funding it. Many of his critics embraced it immediately upon its publication by Buzzfeed News in January.

As for what seems like a reasonable question in the OP, notably, a whole lot of experts are guessing that if Mueller did a "rolling investigation," planning to finish it a year or so from now before announcing the results, the investigation might have been "rolled up" by Trump and Congress long before then, with no results announced.
