My Fear We Are Becoming More Demented And Berserk And Divorced From Reality As A Nation Every Day.

The rhetoric gets more hateful, racist, bigoted, angry and incendiary every day. There seems to be no end to the vitriol, the vomit and the sadism of the RW. We are seemingly descending into deeper and deeper irrationality. What will we have left as a nation after the election?

right into my skull today was the fact that someone can say he has "no regrets" about killing another human being, the he experiences it as "god's will." He can say this sitting calmly in a public place where all kinds of people are getting extremely well paid to facilitate his saying this. And the conversation proceeds as if it's just another day in the life, which it actually is, in the world we're in now. And the donations to his fund will spike.

I know you are talking more generally about politics, but it all seems of a piece to me. I'm sixty-eight years old and I have of course been deeply pessimistic about politics several times in that long a life. But today it came over me that we're in a new level of meaninglessness here.

The first:

"Only a liberal could turn a terrorist into a victim."

The second:

"This country was founded on God (emphasis), guns, and guts."

Does this jackass not understand our founding father's true intentions? That first one still has me scratching my head.

At least that's how I read it.

I am never surprised by the idiocy of conservatives..

My most favorite example was a bumper sticker that said " English,if it was good enough for jesus then it's good enough for mexicans"

You can't make this crap up!!!

I didn't know whether to laugh or cry !!

win handsomely. Think LBJ '64 or Nixon '72.

Only question now is whether Obama's coattails will be long enough to secure the House for the Dems.

That's why I don't want Romney to drop out. A fatally weak candidate suppresses turnout (and that favors Dems in down-ballot races).

we must keep doing it until eventually, somehow it does work. Pick an issue, we're dealing with it ass-backward.

I live in Sweden and although there are many similarities to the US, it is a lot more sane here. But the American craziness makes things lively, I suppose.
