One America Network?

I was having lunch at Popeye's yesterday and the TV was tuned to something called "One America Network" which was promoting a news story that Antifa is partnering with ISIS (along with the ever omnipresent George Soros) to bring down Trump/America.
:tinfoil:

Did a quick Google search and found out it was a right-wing backed network but I had never heard of it before. Has anybody else heard about this? Seems like a more hyped-up and more conspiratorial version of Fox.

From my second hand experience watching her watch it, the morning programming is fairly innocuous--mainly just wire report headlines--but the original programming in the evening is rabid right wing insanity.

The restaurant usually has Fox and/or CNN on but yesterday they had this network on that I had never seen or heard of before.

"One America News Network (abbreviated as OANN), also referred to as One America News (abbreviated as OAN), is a conservative pro-Trump[1][2] American cable news television channel, launched in 2013, that is owned by Herring Networks, Inc.. The network is headquartered in San Diego, California, and operates a news bureau in Washington, D.C.[3] and New York City.[4]
Originally launched with the intention of targeting a conservative and center-right audience,[5][6] OAN states a goal of delivering objective news coverage throughout the day while its prime time political talk shows illustrate a conservative view.[7]
According to the Washington Post, the channel is "obscure" but has risen to greater prominence due to its "pro-Trump" coverage.[1] According to a number of former and current employees at the channel, as well as internal e-mails, Charles Herring (the owner of the channel) ordered producers to promote Trump’s 2016 candidacy and presidency, ignore stories about Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election, ignore stories about police shootings, push antiabortion stories, and minimize coverage of the Pope's 2015 visit to the United States due his calls to mitigate climate change.[1]"

I cannot imagine any public place that would think it's ok to tune in to this garbage, let alone Popeyes. It's like McDonalds tuning into Alex Jones. If it were a gun store, then I could kind of see it. Maybe someone did it as a joke.

I thought it was Fox as per usual for a few mins until I saw the different logo and some of the stuff they were talking about.

They are buying up local news ops nationwide.

Editorial: Don’t be afraid of conservative local TV news

Hands are wringing and teeth are gnashing in some corners at the news that Sinclair Broadcast Group has agreed to purchase Tribune Media Co. in a $3.9 billion deal that includes WDAF-TV, the Kansas City Fox affiliate, along with two St. Louis stations.

According to a number of former and current employees at the channel, as well as internal e-mails, the executives of the channel have "directed his channel to push Trump’s candidacy, scuttle stories about police shootings, encourage antiabortion stories, minimize coverage of Russian aggression, and steer away from the new president’s troubles."[1] During the 2016 presidential campaign, the channel ran a special titled "Betrayal at Benghazi: The Cost of Hillary Clinton’s Dereliction and Greed."[1] Herring, the owner of the channel, sent producers at the channel a report falsely claiming that Hillary Clinton had a brain tumor, and asked them to check up on it.[1] He also shared a report with producers that claimed that Planned Parenthood had promoted abortion, and ordered them to minimize coverage of Pope Francis's US visit due to the Pope's calls for action on climate change.[1] Herring repeatedly ordered his producers not to cover stories pertaining to Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election.[1]
In October 2017, the channel said without any evidence that a "report" had been published which showed "U.K. Crime Rises 13% Annually Amid Spread of Radical Islamic Terror".[18] President Trump later repeated this falsehood, suggesting that he learned of from the OAN.[19][2]

I live on the west coast, certainly known as more liberal and all the western states voted Hillary. But when I travel on business I swear to go, every hotel with a continental breakfast has Fox news blasting in the morning while I am trying to have my first cup of coffee. Went back to North Carolina last summer to visit my brother. People warned me I'd be in Trump country. I mostly stayed at my brother's place, but the night I got in it was late so just got a room near the airport. In the morning I went down for continental breakfast and steeled myself. I was stunned when CNN was on and people were watching it while they ate.

I do think NC is largely Trump country though. Not to state to obvious, but I think I was the only white person staying at that hotel (as of that morning anyway).

channel for the feces-flingers that think that Fox is too librul. It's headquarters are here in SD and someone who used to work for me is an 'anchor' there. She talked to me about it before she took the job - she had already gone to work somewhere else when she interviewed at OAN but we remained in touch - and she told me that she didn't actually believe their message. She just wanted to get her start on network news for her career.

I told her that even if she didn't believe it, she was publicly espousing it, which in a way was worse. We haven't talked since.

That toilet of a network is CrazyTown. I can see Hannity doing a show for them from prison when he gets there. With Dump.

the TV was on and tuned to OAN. i thought at first it was Fox because the monitor was off and it took a little time for me to figure out an unfamiliar system. Once I got the screen on and the channel guide up, I realized it was OAN. I wondered if it was a new policy, because I’ve stayed in this hotel before and this was the first time for that. I was back there a couple nights later on my return trip and if it had happened again, they would have gotten a complaint from me. But I was greeted with blessed silence when I opened my room door, so I don’t know what happened. Someone in housekeeping going rogue?
