Bishop Romney question

As far as I know, Willard is a Bishop in the Mormon church.

This brings up two questions:

One, has a clergyman ever been president?
Two, will his clergy title affect his duties?

Keep in mind, JFK was a lay person, at best. There is a lot of potential for discussion as this might be the first time an active clergyman ever ran for POTUS.

I don't know all the details but it is in Mormon prophecy that one day a Mormon will be POTUS.

The "Church" will be heavily involved in his policies. Take a look at the Utah legislature. Between the church & Gayle Ruzicka of the Utah Eagle Forum, we peons stand no chance at all.

How bad can it be? It's not like Mormons come from Kolob or something like that there.

As I said yesterday and probably will fifty more times before Romney pulls out of the election (say, two months from now when the IRS starts to take a good look at Romney's return), the Mormon church is unique among Jesus-believing denominations in that they don't pay their local church leaders. Rather, they pick one male from the laity who knows the Book of Mormon and the Bible well, designate him the prayer leader and call him the Bishop.

Attacking Romney for being a Mormon Bishop is not worth our time when we have Swiss bank accounts and wholesale firings in the companies he bought to attend to.

He performed more or less as a soldier of his church during his youth. If Obama had had a similarly deep involvement in a church's affairs, I think the media would have been all over it in 2008.
