The Colorado Walmart shooting sure looks like a hate crime to me.

The killer was a middle-aged white man. All of his victims had Latino surnames:

Two men were killed at the scene, while a woman later died at the hospital, police said. They were identified by the Adams County coroner as Carlos Moreno, 66, of Thornton; Victor Vasquez, 26, of Denver; and Pamela Marques, 52, of Denver.

And of course, no condemnation of the shooter from Twittler. Indeed, the whole attack has gotten relatively little coverage.

1. The alleged shooter didn't seem to think it was any big deal

According to the story, Scott Ostrem seemed pretty cool about getting away after he'd squeezed off a few rounds into the Wal-Mart. Didn't go very far, didn't bother changing his clothes, and was taken into custody with a minimum of fuss. Like he didn't think he'd done anything wrong.

But yeah, where is the President's outrage? Did he blow it all on Saikov, and he needs a little time now (he is 71 years old, after all).

Thornton is mostly white (around 3/4, I think), but that doesn't tell us what the majority of the customers at that Walmart generally are. It could be that he fired into a crowd, and that most of the crowd were Latino.

It's too soon to know.
