"Former Democratic National Committee (DNC) interim chairwoman Donna Brazile said she found 'no evidence' that the 2016 Democratic presidential primary process was fixed, taking issue with the use of the word 'rigged' by others."
snip------------------------------------------------------------------
"In the excerpt published in Politico [November 2], Brazile said she was tasked with searching for proof that Clintons team had fixed the nomination process in her favor.
'By September 7, the day I called Bernie, I had found my proof and it broke my heart,'Brazile wrote, referring to Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), who ran an ultimately unsuccessful bid against Clinton for the Democratic presidential nomination.
But in the [November 5 "This Week with George Stephanopoulos"] interview, Brazile said she told Sanders she found "no evidence" that the primary was fixed against him."

(32,596 posts)She lies. Remind you of anyone?
This should really scare you - she still serves on the Rules and Bylaws Committee of the DNC.
Traitor in the house.

(8,311 posts)There's been advance copies released to media causing this shitstorm, but until I can borrow it from my library I can't know what she said either.
I'm still torn. I don't want to believe that she would go from allegedly helping Hillary cheat, to saying that she had to put on Gospel music to call Bernie, to saying she had proof, to saying there was no proof. I want to believe that people are taking things out of context, that she's not lying about conversations (Cheng's people deny him hearing any "whipping girl" convo) along with misinterpreting JFAs.
But damn.

(18,040 posts)What Brazil calls "the cancer" (the memorandum to the HVF-DNC joint funding agreement) was modeled on the JFA terms that Brazile had negotiated for Gore in 1999 BEFORE he had won the nomination.

(8,311 posts)Especially since Bernie wasn't going to specifically court high-dollar donors for the DNC to benefit from (him signing a JFA for his few wealthy donors was good, and I'm not faulting him for focusing on the primary and his model of fundraising), *somebody* had to get the money the DNC and state parties needed for the general, and needed to start raising it fast even if it couldn't be spent immediately.
The rest.... as I said, I'm not buying it before reading it through the Overdrive ebook app once it hits a library.
I'm afraid that this is a bid to change parties because she lost credibility over the debate stuff. I hope it isn't. I don't *want* to believe any Democrat would.

(18,040 posts)A bid for who to change parties?

(8,311 posts)Either every media outlet who has received advance copies of her book has misinterpreted it greatly, or it wasn't written to heal the party.
