Why a theater showing Batman?

They say (that's awful dangerous) that he had some kind of gas mask on and was dressed up in paramilitary garb. Did this guy have delusions that he was some kind of Bane disciple or did he fancy himself that he was a super villain?

We can argue guns later/elsewhere, but is there a reason he shot up Batman versus a theater showing the latest Tyler Perry epic? Was he just looking for a crowd he could do max damage?

I'd expect they'll find more comics at his place than Glen Beck books.

Because Obama, the time traveling Kenyan, knew Willard was going to be the GOP pResidential candy-date, so he convinced his commie friends in Hollywierd to make Bane (Bain) the villain in the new Batman movie - to discredit Rmoney.

It's simple, when you don't try to think about it. Just listen to OxyRush and watch Faux news until your brain has completely mushified, and you too can join the ranks of the Teahadii. You'll never have to think for yourself again.

the guns thing? that was part of the freeperville stuff, not mine. But yes, that is how the idiots think. If only his mother had not conspired 50 years ago to make it look like he was born in America, I'm sure none of this would have happened.

I'm guessing he was crazed to plan something like this, I bet he chose Batman on purpose for some weird twisted reason.

In Aurora, CO, this premier probably fit that description.

I don't even want to guess what brought this young man to this place. I am sure we will find out more as the day goes on.

5. Various reasons.

(1) It had midnight showings, meaning clearer roads for potential escape.
(2) It was a big projected-to-be-hit film, so screenings would be crowded.
(3) Many people doing costume play for the screening, so mask and bulletproof vest (and maybe the guns) would fit in.
(4) Scenes with lots of gunfire. Note that the alleged shooter opened fire during a scene with a lot of gunplay to help cover the sound of his weapon, meaning more surprise.

I don't think the content or name of the film had anything to do with it.

He's evidently a nutbar...At this point I wouldn't be shocked at all if he was some disgruntled, obsessed fanboy pissed off because the story wasn't canon

7. Maybe he just wanted a guaranteed crowd in a confined space

Not to mention that he chose a midnight showing, that would have given him the cover of darkness.

Rather than as a statement on the movie itself, it could have been just a matter of simple logistics.

Security might not be as tight as in the normal early evening since there would be fewer patrons. Thus fewer police, maybe no private security, assuming the theater even had private security.

Also, being late at night that would give him more chance to escape into the darkness.

And people go there with an expectation of hearing the sound of gunfire.

speculated that this was a major event. Everyone in the community knew of the midnight showing of the movie. That it had been anticipated there would be a huge crowd. So large, that the theater complex had opened up several showings. #9 was the first to show it, and so it was crowded.

Perhaps to the mind of a cold blooded killer, the more people the better.

The Tea Party is not racist. They keep saying it, so I believe them.

Lots of people(mostly kids), dark rooms, zero to no security. If terrorists actually had 2 brain cells to rob together, opening nights at the movie theaters will be their number 1 target.

The thought of someone shooting up Disney World during spring break or (insert big mall name here) on Black Friday is going to give me sleepless nights.

Oh, wait. That's what terrorism is all about. Scaring people. Seems to work.
