Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsIs there a new meme about Socialist Dem or Dem Socialists? I missed the memo. Can someone plz let me
know!! Much appreciated!
We just had a nice BLUE WAVE on election night a few days ago ...but am seeing people giving credit to "another party"? WTH?
Is it a 3rd party? Is it the Greens? Are we now telling people vote 3rd party in DU? (I hope not!)
Are they the pure branch? If so are they proposing economic justice and social not so much?
Or is it the other way around? But still pure?
Pure one way but not the other?
Are they friends of DEMS? Do they wish us well?
I love my DEM party and I really want to know!
Inquiring minds wanna get on with the memo that seems to be going around!

(17,348 posts)not a political party. If you'd like to be a member, you have to give them money.

(30,481 posts)There are some Democratic Socialists out there who proudly proudly place their stake in the Democratic Party. They are far and few between but they are out there. They are often referred to as Democrats by those without a negative agenda. Welcome them with open arms. They didnt just join the party to show up they are here to make sausage. Some being mentioned are staunch Democrats. We should push for more of them in viable areas.

(30,481 posts)Somewhat important if endorsing.
I think there might be a little bs here. This individual is very pro-capitalism with social leanings in other areas, overall. They were endorsed by the Democratic Socialists of America.

(1,823 posts)Some Democrats, who were endorsed by the DSA, won. Yayyyyyyy !!!
Whats with the agenda to tear them down ? Dont we have a rule about that ?
Is any part of this sentence true, or is THAT the attempt to divide ?? "Is it a 3rd party? Is it the Greens? Are we now telling people vote 3rd party in DU? (I hope not!) "

(30,481 posts)I was left wondering if the author looked into the candidate at all. Said candidate sure is big into capitalism.

(41,752 posts)My representative, Pramila Jayapal is very much a Democrat, (endorsed by Bernie even) yet she believes in healthcare for all and forging a reasonable path toward free collageboth Socialist in nature. The difference is Jayapal understands how our government actually works, and doesnt waste time on button pushing bullshit. She gets to work, and I expect great things from her.

(37,428 posts)I dunno how much we owe to those of us far to the left or even to Donald Trump himself. The Democratic Party has certainly benefitted, and one would hope the party is largely responsible and able to build on the trend.
Democratic socialism might be a good branding for a New New Deal or something.
