As I was out mowing my leaves, it hit me - trump - the republicans - are "hazing" the country
Actually, "hazing" the world.
Think about it - we who work hard, value education, the arts, science, diversity, progress - who achieve on merit, who abhor hypocrisy - we were the group that the vast majority of the republican types hated from their earliest days - because they knew, deep inside, they had less ambition, less talent, and they knew they would never be able to feel about themselves like we do. These are the school bullies - all they had was their lust for power and control.
So this is one big, kick ass revenge - a global hazing - and if it takes them down with us, it doesn't matter - it is all about them "showing us".
that's not the total answer of course (it is too complex for one big brush stroke generalization) - but I bet that it is an element of it.
