Holmes told police he was the joker

Colorado movie theater shooter James Holmes was sporting red hair and told people he was "The Joker" when he was apprehended by police Friday morning ... this according to NY Police Commissioner Ray Kelly.During a news conference this afternoon, Kelly said, "We have some information, most of it is public. It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He had his hair painted red, he said he was ‘The Joker,’ obviously the enemy of Batman."ABC News is reporting Holmes made the Joker remark to police, not during the shooting.It's likely Kelly obtained the information from Aurora Police Chief Dan Oates -- according to reports, the two are good friends. In fact, Oates was a member of the NYPD for 21 years. Holmes may have been trying to recreate a scene from the 2008 movie, "The Dark Knight" ... which features a scene where The Joker, played by Heath Ledger, wears a red wig while destroying a hospital.

40 cal glock and a remington 870 shotgun.

Don't know if the ar-15 was converted.

this Joker get up might be a ruse.

My point being is that he's trying to use the insanity defense. He's bright enough to
calculate all of this I bet.

She thinks it is not a psychotic episode and differentiates that from psychopathic behavior
which means manipulation.

It fits with the idea that he protected himself with armor.

It's because she said he wants to gloat in prison. All of this is hate driven and let's face
it he's seen it work before.

I think it's most likely that he's mentally ill.

and their brain. Once overwhelmed with hate empathy disappears and they want to kill.

It was't an "episode", since the planning had to have occurred over a period of time. And the shooter obviously had self-preservation in mind - he wore a vest, and surrendered to the cops. I think youre right that probably there were "events" , perhaps even small ones but adding up over time, that generated a hate and desire for revenge on society.
