Why we are trying to prevent Countries from getting nuclear weapons. They have bombs already, what difference does it make what type of bombs. They will find a way to kill people anyway.

(39,154 posts)The funny thing is, there is some truth to the idea that weapons of mass violence are not necessary for acts of mass violence. The Nazis used highly technical and bureaucratic means to commit mass murder. In Rwanda, they used hand weapons mostly. The real key is not so much the weapon, but coercing ordinary people into complicity. Having said that, we do need to prevent nuclear proliferation and we need to ban high capacity pistol magazines, unlimited purchases, and assault rifles that can be made concealable.

The point is that an assault weapon in the hands of a person bent on murder is far worse than that person without firearms.
