If we had passed this simple law none of this would have happened.

A law that requires everyone who runs for president to show their tax returns. Trump never would have never run for president.

1. Would he have just submitted false documents? He is a con man and liar.

Would the IRS have busted him?

They knew she couldn't talk about the CIA situation.
So they just did gang bang Kabuki theater.

12. Good point. Here's a revision.

Instead of "candidate must release returns," the law could say that "candidate must publicly authorize IRS to release returns to public and news media." Then anyone could get the returns directly from the IRS, possibly on paying photocopying fee if they're not electronically available.

15. Or the law could be that you submit to allowing the IRS releasing your returns directly

to the public. That would get around false returns being shown.

13. How were they supposed to stop it?

There seems to be this idea that the party's national committee wields total control over the nominating process. I see it here when people post hopes or predictions that the DNC will bar Bernie from running in 2020.

The DNC didn't have the power to bar Bernie, and the RNC didn't have the power to bar Pataki and all the other extreme-longshot candidates who swelled the field to 17. They just had to let the process sort them out.

7. When we finally get rid of Trump one way or the other a lot of laws need to be changed

to run for president

8. I believe that each state can determine how candidates can get on their ballot

A state could pass a law stating a candidate has to supply 5-10 years of tax returns
easier than trying to get it through congress

9. It would have been called "corrupt" by those candidates

who refuse to release their tax returns, because it would have been a hurdle for those candidates.

10. A bill passed by the California State assembly will require presidential candidates to release their

tax returns. It still needs to be passed by the state senate, but that seems likely. A similar bill has been introduced in New York.

21. Who would be signing said bill?

No way to override the veto, unless pugs were so fed up with him they’d play ball, which seems unlikely

He’s doing everything they want, to destroy any semblance of a government which serves the people, instead of their corporate masters
